My Experience
This experience was a positive one. Not only did I get to see the finance and accounting aspect, but I got to see the engineering department. This day trip gave me an overall experience to get a feel for how the company works, rather than just one aspect that many could just research online. Also the depth in which one could cover in one day is amazing. Everything I did was in such detail. I met with person after person in various departments.

The Schedule
First I was briefed on the overall company and how the company spent money, made money, and the general outline on how this industry ran. This was run by my host, a Bucknell alumni and a co-worker of the alumni. They gave me powerpoint slides. Then I continued on to various meet and greets with staff members of different departments. Examples of those included, the engineering department, finance department, a scientist who worked in the labs, as well as many others. These introductions took place at their locations so I also got a feel of the smaller environment they worked in as a part of the company as a whole.

How did this experience help you make decisions about your future career?
This experience has definitely helped me decide which paths to take to get me into a general direction. I still am not sure what I want to do, however, I know generally what area I would like to be a part of. The specific aspects of this externship that helped was the conversations with different people in different departments. It showed me what they did and how certain things affect what they do. It wasn’t just a first-grader-easy approach. The conversation got me to ask specific detailed questions and the employees definitely answered with clear and concise responses
