Business? Casual? Business Casual? It’s a fuzzy world out there when it comes to jobs and attire but when you are dressing for an interview or a job fair one thing is clear – Suiting Up is always the best idea. We’ve heard from many employers on what outfits make the best impression and it is always a suit. You don’t want to be remembered by an employer for what you wore so check out this quick review of the basics:
Men and Women
- Conservative two-piece business suit (solid dark blue or grey is best)
- Conservative long-sleeved shirt/blouse (white is best, pastel is next best)
- Clean, polished conservative shoes
- Well-groomed hairstyle
- Clean, trimmed fingernails
- Minimal cologne or perfume
- Empty pockets–no bulges or tinkling coins
- No gum, candy or cigarettes
- Light briefcase or portfolio case
- No visible body piercing (nose rings, eyebrow rings, etc.)
